X-Fusion HiLo FAQ

Q:

My Hilo is slow to return, what have I done to cause this and how do I fix it?

A:

NB ‘DO NOT EXCEED 25psi / 1.72bar’

You may have adjusted the air pressure in your Hilo incorrectly at some point, to adjust the air pressure in your Hilo back to your desired volume you must;

  1. Release the trapped air in your Hilo by;
    • Holding the Hilo upside down (so that the saddle is to the ground).
    • Release the air from your Hilo by pressing the valve.
    • Activate your Hilo’s lever/remote.
    • Once again release the air from your Hilo by pressing the valve.

  2. Connect a shock pump to the bottom of the Hilo securely

  3. Hold the Hilo upside down (so that the saddle is to the ground)

  4. Whilst you have the Hilo’s lever/remote activated;

    • Using your shock pump - pump up the Hilo
    or
    • Release air using the shock pumps air release button to the desired air volume.

  5. Release the Hilo’s lever/remote and remove the shock pump

    Initially after adjusting the air pressure in the above manner the Hilo may be hard to compress, however afters a few cycles of compressing and extending the Hilo it will return to its original strength.

    After you have completed the above and wish to simply adjust the air volume in your Hilo, please just follow steps 2 – 5.

Q:

My Hilo slowly moves down when I’m riding how do I fix this?

A:

NB Perform this procedure with the Hilo attached to the bike and the saddle fitted.

  1. Compress your Hilo under normal operation so that your saddle stays down.

  2. WITHOUT operating your Hilo’s lever/remote pull your saddle up so that your Hilo is at full extention.

  3. Operate your Hilo’s lever/remove NB you should hear a sucking sound.

  4. Repeat steps 1 – 4 until your Hilo no longer compresses when you have weight on it (when you ride)

    Common oversight – If you don’t hear a sucking during step 3 and you are using your Hilo with a remote; check your cable tension isn’t over tightened. If the cable is to tight it could possibly cause the Hilo’s actuator to very slightly operate, this will cause your Hilo to creep down as you ride.

Q:

My Hilo feel like there is a hard spot in its travel, how do I fix this?

A:

This is usually a common oversight of bikes seat clamp being over torqued (over tightened).

The maximum torque setting for your seat clamp when riding with your Hilo is 10Nm.

Please refer to the frame and seat clamp manufacturers torque setting to make sure that you are not exceeding the seat clamp and frames torque settings at this joint by tightening this joint to 10Nm.

However please do not exceed 10Nm as this is the maximum your Hilo is designed to be fitted with.

Should you require to use more than 10Nm:

• Check your Hilo is the correct size for your frame

• Clean your Hilo and the seat tube of your frame (using cleaner recommended by the frame manufacture), then refit your Hilo using only substances recommended by your frame manufacturer).

• Seek advice from a professional bicycle mechanic.

Q:

My Hilo lets a small amount of oil out when I depress the air valve core to release some air, is this normal?

A:

This is nothing to worry about and is quite normal.

Over time the oil will completely come out due to this – however this will take a long time.

When this occurs please return your Hilo to us for servicing using the form below*
