Description
The All New Switchblade
THE NEWLY REFRESHING MOJAVE COLOUR IS HERE please call to hear more information and check availability.
A mountain bike with extraordinary versatility and category bending capability that redefines performance across every type of trail. We took the progressive long, and low geometry of the original Switchblade and pushed it even further with a longer reach, slacker head angle and steeper seat angle. Always with an eye on confidence - inspiring design, we shortened and straightened the Switchblade’s seat tube to allow for longer travel Dropper Seatposts in a more compact overall frame design. The adjustable flip chip from our Firebird 29 adds geometry adjustability, enabling the Switchblade to be easily optimized for 29”, 27.5+ or 27.5”/29” reverse mullet setups without compromise. All of this versatility is packaged in a even lighter, Pivot Hollow Core Carbon frame with plenty of room for a large water bottle in all sizes.
New vertical shock layout design builds on dw-link’s legacy of class - leading performance, making it the most capable and adaptable Switchblade ever. A more aggressive rising rate makes 142mm of travel suppler off the top of the stroke, offers more support in the middle and gives it huck-to-flat bottoming control at the end. We worked closely with Fox to develop an all new piston and valve tune on its Float X that delivers new levels of sensitivity and traction. Coil Shock compatibility and full Fox Live Valve integration give the new Switchblade mtb unequalled suspension adaptability and performance.

BikePerfect
"Its ability to turn every section of trail into an ultra-high definition pop, rip and power through playground is as good - if not better - than any other bike we’ve ridden. While it doesn’t feel like it has more rear travel than 142mm, the quality of flat-out flow and tight power response is exceptional. It’s also one of the few bikes where you can still swap to plus-sized wheels if that’s your thing but for most, it’ll be the delicious detailing and visceral, dynamic speed of the Switchblade that makes it something very special."

"Overall, Pivot seem to have nailed the Switchblade’s feel, especially on rough terrain."
"From the saddle, the Switchblade feels more like a long-travel enduro bike than a short-travel trail bike.
On the downhills, the Pivot feels like it has more travel than the numbers suggest.
The suspension is impressively supple at the start of its stroke, with plenty of ramp-up through the rest.
You can ride aggressively through rock-strewn chunder as the bike works overtime to smooth out the terrain.
The geometry feels good on flatter terrain and the bike inspires confidence to shred.
We never struck the pedals or cranks, thanks to the 346mm BB height – a figure normally found on bikes with much more travel."

"Out of the gate, the pedaling efficiency and climbing ability of the Switchblade is quite noticeable. The DW-Link suspension keeps the bike riding high in its travel, and I never once even considered reaching down for the cheater switch on the shock. The back end of the bike stays firmly planted without squatting too much even riding up steep bits of trail. There are no sensations of getting caught up or hung in roots or rocks, even when my legs didn't want to produce the extra punch to get through them fast and stay on top of things."

"The Switchblade 29 is one hard-hitting trail bike that’s been designed to tackle the most challenging terrain. And while it could easily turn its hand to a spot of enduro racing, it retains the agile handling of a precision instrument."

"This bike in the right hands would see some serious personal bests or KOMs if that’s your thing. That is how the bike felt for me: fast!
The Pivot is a hooligan – it possesses the perfect blend of capability in the rough, yet with the dw-link suspension it pedals so well I can still enjoy winching my local fire roads without reaching for the lockout lever.
I’m certain it would really come into its own while away on holiday in big mountain country.
